AHMEDABAD : Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar has not just cashed at the box office. The epic film has left an impeccable impact on people's minds too. What has appealed the audience more seems to be the jewellery and the outfit worn by Aishwarya. Those exquisite heavy jewellery in gold and expensive stones is creating ripples among the Indians. And, Amdavadis are not behind.

The 21st Century brigade is falling for the 16th Century art and culture. And, why not - marriages after all come once in a life time! Youngsters these days want their weddings to be extraordinarily exclusive. Theme weddings are in, but the latest fad is going back in time.
An event in the city on Friday showcased the best of the ethnic jewellery and historic outfits for weddings. Designer Shyamal, who recently presented his collection at a show in Ahmedabad, said, "The historic theme wedding with the typical 16th or 18th Century wear is the trend this wedding season - special zardosi work and cuts that replicate the imperial wardrobe. People want their marriages to be in a princely ambience !"
The event showcased everything from jewellery to bridal garments , holiday destinations, footwear, makeover and special collection for the grooms as well.
One of the stalls at the event had a special collection - My best friend's wedding collection - which was meant for siblings, close relatives and friends, who can dig in the latest wedding collection .
"This is a new garment segment we have launched which has Indian ethnic collection, special ghaghra style sarees and readymade designer sarees for the couples ' associates. The cost of these garments usually start from Rs 8,000 and can go as high as one wants it to be," says Kavita Tulsiani , a designer from Kolkata.
For men who are inspired by Hrithik Roshan in Jodhaa Akbar, they can look for a Dhoti-style wedding outfit with exquisite Mughal style work on it.
Saurabh, one of the organisers of the event says, "Earlier, it was just jewellery. Now, entire wedding packages are available. This is less time consuming and one gets beautiful sets for their wedding." "This year, people came from Bhavangar , Rajkot and Gandhinagar as well to get such an ambience for their wedding," he added.
